Copy catalogue structure from one site to another

If you have two or more separate sites that need to share the same catalogue structure, you can use the Signifikant XML publication to export the catalogue structure to an XML file in SSX format and then import the catalogue structure using SSX import in the other site.

Instructions

  1. Create the directory where you are going to export the catalogue xml file to. The directory name shall start with “Catalogues_”.

  2. Open the site with the catalogue structure that you want to copy and open the publication storage (“Storages | Publications”)

  3. Create a new publication and select “Signifikant Xml publication” as Media

  4. Select the top catalogue in the “Catalogues” field and select “Catalogues” in the “Select” field

  5. Enter the location of the directory you created in step 1 in the “Export directory” field.

  6. Save the publication, right-click on it and choose “Publish”

  7. Copy/paste the directory created in step 1 to the “Export” directory for the site you want to copy to.
If both sites are on the same server, you can export directly to a directory in the “Export” directory.
Tip: if you don’t know where the Export directory is located, you can right-click on a row in the import storage and choose “Explore transformation target” and then go one level up.

  8. Open the site where you want to copy the catalogue structure to and open the import storage

  9. Locate the directory you created in step 7 by using the filter field

  10. Right-click on the directory in the import storage and choose “Load”

  11. The catalogue structure is now copied to the new site.
